I don’t care if this series has been around for a while now; it’s still amazing how easy it is to keep clicking through related videos until you’ve seen them all.
On Jan. 1, 1981 (when Democrat Jimmy Carter was President) the minimum wage went from $3.10 to $3.35. Nineteen days later, Republican Ronald Reagan became President and the minimum wage didn’t go up again until April 1, 1990.
The minimum wage went up twice under Daddy Bush & twice under President Clinton, but then we had another long-stall…from Sept. 1997 until July 2007, there was no raise.
If you look at the 30-year time period of 1981-2011, you see that 19 of those 30 years went by without an increase in pay for millions of Americans.
This has made the minimum wage no longer a “minimum wage”. And this problem is long overdue to be addressed.
We need a Living Wage in the USA.

If the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012, a bill which allows for the indefinite detention of any person suspected of aiding or taking part in terrorism, didn’t already scare you, new information on the FBI’s classification of factory farm watchdogs should do the trick. This new information comes as the Center for Constitutional Rights has filed a lawsuit challenging the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act (AETA) as unconstitutional because its vague wording has had a chilling effect on political activism. This document adds to the evidence demonstrating that the AETA goes far beyond property destruction, as its supporters claim.
The 2003 FBI file details the work of several animal rights activists who used undercover investigation to document repeated animal welfare violations. The FBI special agent who authored the report said they “illegally entered buildings owned by [redacted] Farm… and videotaped conditions of animals.”
The animal activists caused “economic loss” to businesses, the FBI says. And they also openly rescued several animals from the abusive conditions. This was not done covertly in the style of underground groups like the Animal Liberation Front — it was an act of non-violent civil disobedience and, as the FBI agent notes, the activists distributed press releases and conducted media interviews taking responsibility for their actions.
Based on these acts — trespassing in order to photograph and videotape abuses on factory farms — the agent concludes there “is a reasonable indication” that the activists “have violated the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act, 18 USC Section 43 (a).”
